I started my Instagram account (@workwhereyouwander) last year to document my travels ✈️ while working 👩🏽💻 remotely.
In the past year and a half, I have been doing a lot of reflecting on my journey thus far and my future goals. I love working in digital marketing and spend quite a bit of time each week keeping up with current industry trends and best practices. Thus I’ve shifted the focus of this account from digital nomad ➡️digital marketer.
As I build out my website, Twitter, and Instagram content, I decided it’d be best to have a consistent name across the board.
However, there was a problem… @elenacsalazar was already taken on Instagram…
What I did next was bold. I sent a direct message to @elenacsalazar on Instagram explaining why the username was important to me, and asking if she’d be willing to switch her account to a different username. I knew it was a long shot that this stranger would be amenable to my ask (or even respond to me).
If you don’t ask, the answer is always no.
Guess what? She not only wrote back nearly immediately, but she agreed to relinquish @elenacsalazar! How’s that for a random act of kindness?!
I’m excited to announce that I’ve changed my Instagram username to @elenacsalazar to be consistent with my website and Twitter handle.
I can’t wait to continue to build out my personal brand and I’m so grateful to all of you who are along for the ride. Expect more insights into industry trends and best practices, tips for building your personal brand online, and content to help you increase the ROI of your digital marketing efforts. I invite you to join me on this next phase of my journey, and I hope you like what you see 🤗
